The 2012 84th Academy Awards are finally here and the event is taking place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. We will have all the red carpet arrival pictures for you as the red carpet overflows with the tops names in show business! The awards are the most highly-anticipated event of the awards show season. Tonight’s show will feature Billy Crystal as host and Cirque du Soleil performing at the Hollywood & Highland complex.
This year’s Academy Award nominations contain few surprises apart from a couple of people left of this list. Unexpectedly there was no nomination for Michael Fassbender in ‘Shame’ nor for the standout 2011 comedy ‘Bridesmaids.’ Nominations of best Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy and another for Original Screenplay did not materialize. Earlier in the week Sacha Baron Cohen was rumored to beed from banned walking the red carpet because he intended to walk the carpet dressed as his character from his new movie The Dictator. After a lot of hoopla the academy reconsidered and he is expected to attend, but will Sacha show up as his “Dictator” character?
The big question on everyone’s mind tonight: Will “The Artist” continue its awards show wins by taking home the best picture Oscar, or will a film such as “The Descendants,” “The Help” or “Hugo” be able to stop it’s winning streak?
