Tonight’s Show:  Show starts with Carson Daly asking what the coaches think about the instant elimination and raising of the stakes of the show.

Christina: “I’m really upset about it.”  Blake says “You didn’t mention how beautiful I looked.”  Adam contributes:  “Maybe I’m just a control freak, but I think it’s okay.”

So Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton will be onstage with their artists tonight. Plus, Maroon 5 will perform “Pay Phone” with Wiz Khalifa.

Team Blake with RaeLynn singing “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean.  Her vocals aren’t great and she tries still this is her best performance to date.   Christina likes it saying it makes want to sing country.  Cee Lo says it’s the best performance that you’ve done.”  Adam agrees with Cee Lo and Blake is very proud.

Team Christina with Jesse Campbell performing “Halo” by Beyonce.  Jesse misses the higher more powerful notes.  Cee Lo says it was a great job.  Adam says “I wasn’t feeling the song choice until it kicked in.”  Blake claims it was a great performance and nobody can deny it.  Christina says good job for dedicating the performance to your daughter.

Team Blake with Jordis Unga singing “A Little Bit Stronger” by Sara Evans. What a rocker she looks great in a pink dress.  Great vocals!  Christina likes that Jordis shows her vulnerability.  Cee Lo agrees that the performance was emotional.  Adam also chimes in saying that is what people want to see.  Blake enthuses about how proud he is of her and announces that Jordis is also a composer.

Team Christina does a previously recorded performance: Christina schlepps her team to a Starbucks in Crenshaw and then going to a local high school to help out the choir. She invites the choir to The Voice in order to perform with her team.

Christina is singing one of Blake’s number one hits, Hillbilly Bone’ – the song merges into ‘Fighter.’  Ashley and Jesse join their mentor then Lindsey and Chris come in with the Crenshaw choir from backstage. Great job!

Team Christina with Ashley De La Rosa singing “Foolish Games” by Jewel  Ashley can really perform – a dark and smoky ambience.  This was a special effort!
Cee Lo says it was great but not too enthusiastically.  Adam gripes saying Cee Lo – that was a really underwhelming response.  He thinks Ashley is a dangerous sleeper in the competition.  Blake says that Christina saving her was the smartest decision of the season.  Christina says that Ashley made the song her own – she is growing stronger each week.

Now we are treated to Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa doing a guest performance doing “Pay Phone”  Carson says – ‘Excellent performance.’ As if he would say otherwise?

Team Blake with Erin Willet doing “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele.  Sings well but too dramatic for me – I mean it isn’t opera after all.  Christina says she sang her heart out.  Cee Lo also praises her interpretation of the song.  Adam says she needs to work on her phrasing but her pitch is fine.  Blake says he was excited for her – she can really do Adele well.

Team Christina with Lindsey Pavao performing “Part of Me” by Katy Perry.  Male dancers are holding her microphone – how touching…  Cee Lo says he never heard the song before and so can’t comment.  Adam says she can’t control her singing on the big notes.  Blake says he is already a fan – a backhanded compliment, no?  Christina talks about her unique style … blah blah – says she is growing each week…  Not an amazing performance.

Team Blake does a group performance and Jermaine stands out as the best of the lot. They do ‘Heartache Tonight’ by the Eagles and RaeLynn is the worst of the lot.

Team Blake with Jermaine Paul singing “Against All Odds” by Phil Collins.  Jermaine is the king – everyone is standing.  Christina says he is a phenomenal singer and very connected with what he sings.  Cee Lo says he improves on Phil Collins – giving the song more soul.  Adam loves it by says he might have ‘embellished’ the song overly.  Blake is awestruck and says that this was a turning point in The Voice.

Team Christina with Chris Mann singing “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay.  Great song choice.  Adam wants to see Chris sing opera.  Christina appreciates his willingness to be different – to ‘challenge the norm.’

Instant Eliminations – Yikes

Team Christina – Jesse Campbell is out!

Team Blake – Jordis Unga is gone – that sucks she was great!

Team Christina still has Lindsey Pavao, Ashley De La Rosa and Chris Mann. Team Blake is down to RaeLynn, Erin Willett and Jermaine Paul.

Tomorrow night on The Voice, the surviving members of the teams will be in danger of elimination – let’s see how the voting goes!

We will be back Tuesday for the live recap!
