I’m really geeking out over the season 7 finale of Dexter. I can’t believe on the last episode that Dexter finally after years of waiting had Hector Estrada (the man who ordered his mother’s murder) on his table and had to give him up.
In the preview spoiler for this episode, “Surprise Motherfucker,” we see La Guerta arresting Dexter, but this could be a daydream/nightmare. Hmm.
So who could die on this episode and who will make it out in one piece?
Let’s see. If Dexter can get a spare moment without being under scrutiny, he will finish off Hector Estrada even if he’s caught doing it. That will bring him full circle back to how he came to be the creature he is – Hector’s got to go and he’s got to go now.
La Guerta…. Hmm… Harry’s seen in the spoiler telling Dexter that La Guerta doesn’t even begin to meet the code and that’s true, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a bitch who’s owed a come-uppance. Dexter won’t kill her, but I know who would – – Hannah. Dexter’s girlfriend has no qualms about removing obstacles without regard for a code.
Even though Dex had her arrested, I think she’d kill La Guerta in a heartbeat to protect him. Deb might even contrive to let Hannah get out of jail in exchange for her helping Dexter. But if Hannah killed La Guerta, I think Dexter would kill her – not in vengeance, but because she’d rather die at his hand than go to prison and this could be a weird type of reward.
Quinn and/or Nadya are in trouble. Quinn killed the Kashka’s flunkie George and that may bring a world of hurt on him. He also thinks he got Nadya away clean, but she could be back too. I foresee a scenario where the Kashkas have Nadya and Quinn tied up in the same room, tortured by the Russians. This storyline isn’t done yet and a death is in store.
Matthews is another question mark – I can’t believe they brought him back for just the little bit he’s done. I think there’s a chance he’s less after his pension (though that would be good) and more after trashing La Guerta. He may yet have something up his sleeve that would exonerate Dexter and discredit La Guerta. I don’t think Matthews would be too bothered by Dexter’s antics since he only kills dirt bags. Plus I bet Harry and Tom used to “take care of” bad guys back in their day. Also Matthews covered up Harry’s suicide, so covering for Dexter’s not that much of a stretch.
Meanwhile I’m very certain Deb spiked her own water to implicate Hannah so Dex would take her side. I don’t think for a second Hannah would try to take out Deb. But Debra’s got some karma coming from this as well. If Dexter finds out, it will drive a huge wedge between them and she may contaminate some Bay Harbor evidence or take on La Guerta to make up for it.
So my death predictions are: Hector Estrada (definitely), Quinn and/or Nadya (likely), Hannah (somewhat likely), La Guerta (long shot) and Matthews (very unlikely). No chance of Dex or Deb dying – there is one more season to go after all. I can’t think of a reason Matthews could die but since he’s in a guest arc, death could always be waiting in the wings!
