Will.I.Am, a former member of the Black Eyed Peas, bluntly stated that “The Voice” shits on “The X Factor” because it apparently has better judges. Will.I.Am is in fact going to be a mentor and judge on The Voice UK, but to say a show’s better when you are a judge for it seems incredibly biased to me. Besides, it’s the people who decide if a show is good or not, right?
Here’s what Will.I.Am told The Mirror: “I won’t be a judge on X Factor. But The Voice is different. You can’t even compare the two. One, you have people in the music industry, current and legends, coaching the next generation. The other format you have judges critiquing, giving their opinions on things when they don’t really know, other than Randy Jackson on (American) Idol.” This is a pretty rude statement, but maybe he’s right! After all, did you see who won the first US X Factor? Yup, I believe he may actually have a point since that is proof enough for me. Besides, ratings were way down for the premier season of US X Factor, according to Simon Cowell’s predictions anyway, so maybe the people did decide that it wasn’t that good.
Will.I.Am continued with: “On The Voice, we’ve all got experience.” Which is true, alongside Will.I.Am are talented Jessie J, Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue for the UK version. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for the US version. These people all have experience in the music industry, so that fact is quite true.
Personally, I’m going to have to agree with Will.I.Am. He’s incredibly right, the winner of US X Factor was nothing but another Mariah Carey and Beyoncé wannabe, I can’t even remember her name. I plan on giving The Voice a try this season, hopefully they can find talent that is fresh and new – someone who deserves to win!
The US version of The Voice, Season 2 premiers February 5th following the Super Bowl XLV1 and the UK version, Season 1 premiers this March.
