Move over Fifty Shades of Grey – It’s All My Children!! It was confirmed months ago that long running former ABC soap operas, All My Children and One Life to Live are about to relaunch over on The Online Network. After being axed by network television in late 2011 fans screamed and yelled for someone, somewhere to bring their shows back and in this modern age the internet was the best vehicle to do so. 30 minute episodes will being airing on April 29th and both fans and the many returning actors couldn’t be happier.
But if you thought these shows were going to play by the old television rules, you’d be crazy. According to the April 1st print edition of GLOBE, producers of both shows fully intend to spice things up. Since they are online they can get away with a lot more and they fully intend to. Sex and different sexual acts will be portrayed and discussed. Also the language is about to get a whole lot racier. Returning soap vets like Jill Larson signed on to do the show before realizing how raunchy things will actually be. None of them seem bothered by the changes though because soaps are a type of dying breed and the only way to keep them in existence is for people to take huge risks towards modernizing them. That means pushing whatever limits are in place and fortunately for AMC and OLTL fans, that means their shows will now pack the heat and have the spice of pay cable channels.
Are you glad that the shows are taking this risk? G-rated soap scenes aren’t exactly a true depiction of real life nowadays, are they? Will you be turning in to check out the whole format of soaps online? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
