As much a result of jealousy as it is cynicism, previous Bachelorette star Arie Luyendyk Jr. has hinted that Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried won’t be able to sustain a future together.
For those who don’t recognize Arie, he was featured in a previous season of the Bachelorette, where the ‘bachelorette’ was Emily Maynard. As we know, Emily eventually ended up picking Jef Holm, although Arie definitely tried to win her heart, travelling to North Carolina and confessing his feelings. Obviously, she turned him down, and he had to recount his tale of heartbreak on the ‘After The Final Rose’ special episode.
Arie has taken his experience on that special, and is tweeting about the couch he sat on during the episode. He tweeted, “After the Final Rose. Good to see they are using the same furniture as last year… #thatseatishaunted.” A reference to the failed relationship between Emily and Jef, perhaps? Is he hinting that Desiree and Chris won’t make it? I mean, I don’t think any rational viewer of the Bachelorette actually thinks most of these relationships last, and Arie is probably one of them, even though he himself was a contestant.
Of course, he could also be referring to his own heartbreak, and how the couch carries the taint of his confession. I’m sure he’s partly jealous, and also partly bitter about the whole situation. There’s also the fact that I’m sure all the Bachelorette contestants have to sign confidentiality agreements, so it’s not like he can write a tell all book explaining what went down behind the scenes. Therefore, he decides to cryptic tweet his feelings, but I think we can all see through the facade.
