Dancing with the Stars contestant Brant Daugherty has revealed in a shocking confession that he was mugged at gunpoint after filming the show last week.
Brant discussed his ordeal during footage released Monday, when he was rehearsing with his partner and rumored love interest, Peta Murgatroyd. He told her, “He said, ‘I’m going to cock the gun, and I’m going to shoot you if you don’t give me your bag.'”
Peta seemed shocked by the confession, as I’m sure anyone who viewed the video did. Nobody really expects to get robbed or mugged in their lifetime, but the unfortunate truth of the matter is that there are so many things in life that you cannot control. In Brant’s case, he goes home from filming Dancing with the Stars every week, so how could he have possibly known that he would be followed and robbed at gunpoint? He’s lucky nothing happened, but in most similar situations, the robber usually does leave after he gets his money.
This incident might also serve as an indirect boost to Brant and Peta’s popularity, although they’re already a fan favorite and in the top 5 favored couples to win the trophy. It might engender sympathy from a lot of DWTS fans who would otherwise never have voted for him, and they might be compelled to do so – if only to make up for the fact that he got mugged.
