Chris Brown has been the latest victim of ‘swatting’ pranksters who targeted his Hollywood Hills home after cops received a call on Monday afternoon, claiming the singer’s mother and father were having a rowdy argument before his father pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot if she didn’t do what he said. Chris was out of town when the police arrived to his home, but it didn’t take long for the police to realize they were being set up by another prankster when they arrived at the mansion.
“The caller claimed a mother and father were in a fight and the father went to another room in the house to get a gun. At that point the caller hung up, never mentioning it was Chris Brown’s house,” TMZ reports.
The LAPD are concerned about the number of prank calls that have been coming through to them. Just days ago, it was Kris and Bruce Jenner who had a dozen of police cars arrive at their home when another 911 call was made that a shootout was going down at their residence in Calabasas. Kim Kardashian, who was out of town at the time of the incident, tweeted to her followers:
“Just got a call from my mom telling me about this prank call that someone was shot in their home & 15 swat team & 3 helicopters showed up!” The reality star continued: “These prank calls are NOT funny! People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out who is behind this. Its dangerous & not a joke!”
The LAPD are now hiring private investigators to track the phone call as these hackers need to be caught. Miley Cyrus, Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher have also been the subject of hoax calls in the last few months where cops were tricked into believing it was a legit call. Due to these hackers outsmarting the cops by hiding their location and altering their voice, it makes it hard for the LAPD to track them down. Let’s hope that this comes to an end sooner rather than later.
