Cory Monteith Death Does Not Mean Glee Will End — The Show Must Go On!

According to new information, Glee will definitely continue, even in light of the death of one of its brightest stars, Cory Monteith. Now, this isn’t exactly surprising news, especially when taking into consideration that Glee is a show that relies upon its ensemble of characters, not any one actor in particular. However, people were beginning to wonder what the actor’s death meant for the future of the show, and now it seems they’ve gotten an answer. Not exactly an official answer — but one that seems would align with those of the showrunners’ opinions.

A source close to the show’s producers tells TMZ: “Glee is definitely not canceled. If you look at the dollars and cents of the show and that it was very much an ensemble with new kids being added last year when some graduated, it’s clear that the show wasn’t about one character.”

The source adds, “The producers and writers are taking time to meet and figure out how to best address this situation in the context of Glee. No decision has been reached about a script yet, as it’s still early.”

I knew the show would continue. What I’m not 100% certain about is whether or not Lea Michele will return to the show, especially since she’s so distraught over her boyfriend’s death. I don’t know what kind of contract she has with the show, whether or not it’s binding (I’m sure it is), but if this tragedy continues to take a toll on her she may be unfit to to reprise her role as Rachel on the show. A situation that would, probably, result in a huge ratings loss.
