If you tuned in to season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka then you probably have a pretty good clue of who Gia Allemand is. She made it into the top 3 on the show back in 2010 and fans seemed to adore the bubbly girl from NY. In the episode when the girls took Jake home to meet their families he was totally grilled by Donna Micheletti Allemand, Gia’s mother. The two were clearly thick as thieves and when Gia said that her mom was her best friend it was completely believable.
After holding vigil at Gia’s bedside for more than 24 hours Donna made the crushing decision to take her daughter off of life support on Wednesday and is still completely baffled as to what really happened to her daughter. We know that Gia’s boyfriend, Ryan Alexander attended a friend’s wedding out of town solo last weekend and when he returned home on Monday he found Gia hanging. Some have said that she was depressed over the direction that her relationship was heading in and that while her close friends were getting married Ryan wasn’t even ready to propose.
At the time of her death Gia was supposedly plotting a move back to NYC to be closer to her family and her best friend, Donna who is a retired NYC police officer. That means that she has likely seen her share of trauma but nothing that would even come close to comparing to the loss of her only daughter. Donna eventually left NYC all together and now lives in Lakewood, PA with Gia’s younger brothers Justin, Erik and Dylan.
Do you think that Donna is angry with Ryan and blames him for her daughters actions? Do you think she had any idea what Gia was dealing with and how upset she really was? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
