Remember a few weeks ago when the internet went crazy over the rumor that super conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck was about to be handed her walking papers from ABC’s The View? I think the story broke late Friday and by Monday morning as the ladies sat at the table Barbara Walters reassured everyone that Elisabeth was staying put. Apparently she was fuming over the way the future firing leaked and so she had to save face and keep Elisabeth around for awhile longer. According to The New York Post,
“ABC is desperate to freshen up the show. Dumping Joy Behar, who was there 16 years, and Hasselbeck would be the fastest way to do it, they decided. After giving Behar the bad news last week and letting her bow out gracefully, someone leaked the Hasselbeck thing. Some enemies she has on the show saw their chance to get back at her. Barbara was spitting mad that it got mishandled.”
Elisabeth is nothing if not a smart cookie and she has apparently seen what is really going on here and has started looking into other options. As it turns out, Jeff Zucker is extremely interested in bringing Elisabeth into the CNN family. Actually the move would make sense. She likes to really weigh in on topics and Elisabeth’s opinions are unwavering, regardless of who agrees with with her. Nearly every round table heated clash on The View has had Elisabeth as the driving force so perhaps going toe-to-toe with less conservative pundits on CNN might be a good gig for the mom of three.
