While I’m thrilled to see the whole Twilight saga pack up and go away for a very long time I realize that there are lots of people out there that have nothing to now obsess over. My prediction is that a lot of these fans are going to now attach themselves to the Fifty Shades of Grey Movie series. I mean clearly one film isn’t enough for diehard fans that eventually will live and breathe for all things Fifty.
Seriously though, the series is like a porn version of Twilight and with Bill Condon’s purported involvement the similarity is assured. It has the young, unlikely couple that shouldn’t actually be linked. I’m pretty sure whomever gets cast as Christian Grey (Ahem, Ian Somerhalder) will see his career launch into orbit just as Robert Pattinson’s has and maybe the actress portraying Anastasia Steele won’t be a home wrecking sourpuss in real life!
Personally, I think this franchise will ultimately be more successful than the sparkly vampires were. Why? Because it is primarily about sex and nothing sells better than sex! Plus if the casting is perfect then women everywhere will be swooning over Christian Grey and it’ll be one of those films that is seen a few times rather than just once.
Are you ready to invest your time and energy into a new movie franchise, one that is sure to pack a lot of heat? Let’s face it, in order to do the book justice the movie version is going to have to be really hot because you can’t do a story on BDSM and then water it down on screen, now can you? It’s going to have to walk the fine line between NC-17 and porn otherwise it’ll be a total bust and no one wants to see it fail.
