After years and years of speculation, Warner Brothers has finally decided to feature Wonder Woman in a feature film, even if it’s unfortunately not in her own stand-alone film. I’m not sure why WB has this fear that women can’t headline superhero movies, but they should get over it – it’s ridiculous.
Anyway, the beautiful and [and maybe talented?] Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman, which doesn’t come as a surprise since she was listed as one of the frontrunners for the role two weeks ago. She’s got the looks down, but does she have the physicality? Wonder Woman is supposed to believably be able to fight both Batman and Superman, as well as hold her own against the numerous, more powerful villains she faces on a regular basis. And acting ability? Well, we haven’t seen enough to be able to gauge accurately whether she can pull off the role. Gal’s convincing enough in the Fast and Furious films, but I’m hoping her thin frame builds muscle over training for the film, and that she has the ability to hold the screen against other, more seasoned actors.
Now, putting all that aside, we’ve got more worry for dear Mrs. Affleck. Poor Jennifer Garner is probably in a constant state of worry every time Ben Affleck works with an attractive actress [ahem], and this isn’t any different. Gal’s very similar to Blake Lively [ahem, cough] – tall, skinny, beautiful. Gal’s married, so the chances of anything happening are very low – but still, don’t be surprised if you see Jennifer pop up on set every so often to keep an eye on Ben.
What do you guys think about Gal Gadot being cast as Wonder Woman? Are you happy with the choice? And do you think she will mesh well with Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
