After spending the better part of a decade living and working in London, Gillian Anderson is ready to return to American television starting with a character in Hannibal where she will play Dr. Hannibal Lector’s own therapist. GLOBE reports in the March 25 print edition that the show launches on April 4th on NBC and serves as a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs film franchise. Gillian has also been cast in an as of yet unnamed NBC pilot that revolves around blackmail and political conspiracy.
Fans of The X-Files will remember Gillian as Special Agent Dana Scully who liked to find logical ways to poke holes in Agent Moulder’s (David Duchovny) theories. The show ran for a decade and spawned two films. The first was amazing and the second one – well not so much. Either way, Gillian’s fans will be thrilled to see her return to television in serious roles.
The actress is smart to focus on work as it seems her personal life tends to be pretty messy more often than not. She got pregnant while filming the very first season of The X Files and her marriage to Errol Klotz was short lived and her second marriage years later to Julian Ozanne was even briefer. She gave up on marriage but spent 6 years in London with Mark Griffiths and it was a relationship that resulted in two young boys. After the couple split last summer Gillian decided it was time to get herself together and come back to the states to work.
Are you excited to see Gillian return to American television? How about those rumors that she has hooked up with good pal, David Duchovony and that things have taken a bit of a serious turn? Could they make it as a couple in real life? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
