So now it begins, every The Vampire Diaries fan out there is now trying to figure out what unraveled the three year romance of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. While neither has officially commented, Nina’s friends are starting to weigh in, trying to make Nina look as strong and solid as possible. Some have said that the split was inevitable because the romance began as a showmance and they let their work and private lives just sort of overlap. I’ve also seen some saying that Nina was ready to move on rather than settle down and get serious.
CDL has been telling you about the trouble brewing between them since right after the Oscar’s and we have watched their social media sites and reported the truth while other media outlets insisted that all was well. Back in early April it became pretty clear that Ian must have made a serious misstep in their relationship. Nina was consistently giving away tidbits on Twitter and it was crystal clear that she was hurting. At one point she tweeted, “Quote of the day: Ask for forgiveness, not permission.” At the time we speculated that Ian had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar – or with another woman- and rather than realize he screwed up he instead suggested they take a break. Any post of Nina’s that was the least bit personal for awhile there was clearly aimed at the man in her life.
Now, weeks later Nina has her feet back under her and there is truth in what her friends are saying – she really is over it and does want to see other people, loyal ones! The fact the Ian screwed up was the beginning of the end for this couple. It just took Nina a few extra months to realize that Ian was never going to come to his senses and realize he had made a mistake.
