If you’ve been watching The Vampire Diaries at all, then you know Damon and Elena are still in this awkward stage of romance. Elena is sired to Damon, which essentially means she’s required to love him with all her being no questions asked, and Damon is truly in love with her but must maintain his guard being that she can’t help but feel passionate toward him. I still like to believe that Elena would choose Damon to love, even if she wasn’t sired to him, but I do have my doubts. So what about in real life, in the real world? Are Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev head-over-heels in love with one another?
I think the fact that they’re madly in love is a given. Rarely do we hear anything about them that might suggest their relationship his headed toward that rocky pit of destruction and sometimes the pics — filled with a crapton of PDA — they take together are a bit gagworthy. But cute nonetheless. So I think it’s safe to say that they are experiencing equal amounts of vampire human love.
While they are clearly in mad dog love, one thing they don’t really talk about is their private love life, and I suppose that is perfectly fine — but that’s not much fun, is it? I’m sure y’all are fairly curious: Who’s the better lover in the relationship? Ian Somerhalder was in talks to play Christian Grey in the film adaption of EL James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, so perhaps he’s got some tricks up those vampire sleeves of his.
Ian recently took a vacay without Dobrev, but the brief separation wasn’t because they’re plummeting into BreakUpVille or anything. He just needed some alone time and getaway time, and apparently he’s back and refreshed. Nina has also had a rockin’ time recently; she received an incredible amount of praise recently from Vampire Diaries producer Julie Plec. While the acting on TVD can be extremely cheezeballs at times, you have to give the actors credit for the immense passion they bring to the show — and real life! Nina and Ian are quickly shaping up to be quite the Tinseltown power couple!
