It’s finally here and by “it” I mean Spring Breakers. The film starring Selena Gomez, James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson among others hits theaters today and is sure to add some extra heat to the winter chill that’s still in the air. The movie is a typical coming of age party flick with a twist. A bunch of kids hold up a store to get enough money for a spring break beach trip and it’s all downhill from there.
Of course there are sex scenes included and while the whole premise of the film sounds a bit raunchy, the cast is insisting that the onscreen sex is not filmed in a dirty way. Instead “Beautiful” is the word that actors like James and Ashley are using to describe the onscreen action. Supposedly it simply makes sense in the story of the movie and doesn’t seem like a sex scene or two just for the sake of including them.
It”ll be interesting to see how well Selena does in a more grown up role. She said earlier this week that being a child actor that was part of the Disney machine has made her need to go and test racier genres out. Hopefully she can play the part of the grown up bad girl well because if so, a whole new world of opportunities will open up for her. Perhaps maybe even a shot at the role of Anastasia Steele in the hotly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. I wonder if her ex, Justin Bieber has any intention of seeing Spring Breakers this weekend. Seeing an older Selena on the big screen would only emphasize what an idiot he was to let her go in the first place. She clearly anchored him.
