Meet Jay Sheets, The Biggest Loser Season 15 Contestant

Meet Jay Sheets, a marketing associate from Farmington, Missouri. Although Jay has been battling his weight gain for the better part of his life, he points to his parents’ divorce and his childhood home getting burned down as the catalysts for unhealthy weight gain.

According to his official bio, “Growing up in Farmington, Missouri with his older brother, Jay stayed active riding horses, playing football and hunting and fishing. After high school, he earned a degree in agriculture/business at Murray State University in Kentucky. His current job in the food industry often finds him on the road, eating whatever food is fast and easy.”

Well, ‘eating whatever food is fast and easy’ will definitely not help you stay healthy, nor will it keep your weight down. Jay is now 38 years old and weighs 297 pounds, and also suffers from hypertension and sleep apnea – as is common in obesity.

Jay explains his reasons for wanting to lose weight, saying, “My true passion in life is riding horses and team roping, and my weight is now preventing me from doing what I love. Also, my kids are getting older and are now participating in sports, and my weight is preventing me from helping them achieve their goals.”

As far as motivation for losing weight goes, spending time with family and competing in professional horse racing is a strong one.
