No one wants to blame Lea Michele for Cory Monteith‘s death. She and Cory’s family loved him but they knew in their own way they also loved an addict. Cory was substance abuser since he was 13. Over the course of the next 17 years he made repeated attempts to get clean which all ultimately failed him when he died from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol. But instead of remembering the happier moments his loved ones are too caught up in their recent grief.
“He was very smart, he was very lovable. He was a joy to be with,” the grieving dad, Joe Monteith, told Hello! Canada for the moving spread done on the actor. A sentiment that was shared all across social media. Here was this goofy guy that was always known for his consideration, and his death, so soon after rehab, shocked everyone. But to hear those sweet words from his father should serve to remind people that someone lost his son. So when they go on Twitter or Facebook or anything else and start claiming that if his parents never had gotten a divorce, Cory wouldn’t have been an addict, then should hear the only words he’s issued so far from a grieving father. He couldn’t save his son, deep down he knows that.
So too should Lea forgive herself. Apparently she has been questioning herself on whether Cory’s death was her fault. But what she should remember is that Cory was supposed to be with friends. The same friends that saw the beer cans. The same friends that were supposed to have known Cory for years and yet never picked up on the signs that he was itching. If they didn’t pick on it then no else could have. According to news sources Lea is searching for answers but she’s never going to find an answer to why some people can’t seem to kick an addiction.
