Kate Gosselin has been pimping her new cookbook like there’s no tomorrow, and can you blame her? This is her last chance at making a significant chunk of income, considering her money from her reality show is slowly chipping away, bit by bit.
Kate was on the Bethenny show the other day to discuss her life and financial situation, probably to engender sympathy among the target audience and get them to buy her book. After all, the people who watch Bethenny on a regular basis are probably also the same people who watched Jon and Kate Plus 8.
Kate also revealed that she really was close to being broke, just as we always suspected, when she said, “The majority of what we made, I, personally, took and put in a college fund for them because they will go to college. So I use coupons, we don’t wear the top brands. Those things to me really aren’t overly important but college, school and their house, where they live is important.”
I love how she manages to insert coupons in there – yes, please remind us of the last job you did that you got fired from. Kate also tries playing the sympathy card when she discusses that despite all the scandals surrounding Jon Gosselin recently, she’s not willing to let her children’s relationship with him suffer. She explains, “The best thing for my kids is that I give them the opportunity and the ability to continue that relationship. When they are older — if they don’t want to do it anymore or whatever decisions they make — that is their business.”
Well, that’s nice, right? I would totally believe that she was being completely sincere if it also weren’t for the fact that she wants people to buy her book. And based on past history, I don’t see any other reason for how candid she’s being.
