Remember back when Kim Kardashian announced her pregnancy and she thought it was the coolest thing to be having a baby at the same time as Kate Middleton? I think somewhere in her clouded mind she thought they would somehow become friends and trade new mom tricks of the trade. Pretty quickly we all realized that Kim’s child, North West serves as an attention-grabber when she sees fit and will be raised by nannies otherwise. Kate, on the other hand, is the real deal.
According to the Dec. 23rd print edition of GLOBE magazine it’s not uncommon to find the duchess strolling her 5 month old son in Kensington Gardens in between formal royal engagements. She can pull herself together, tiara and all, when the evening requires it, but the rest of the time Kate is more like the girl next door (with a bigger budget). Prince William has often spoken of wanting a fairly low-key life for his family and it’s really nice to see their actions back up that idea.
Kate clearly has her own idea about how to be a parent and many of the stuffy royal traditions have been ousted in favor of a more hands on approach. That’s one of the many reasons why the royal watchers love Kate. It feels like she really is involved with her son all day, every day just like every other normal new mom. I have to think that while Kate cuts a stunning figure on the red carpet she’s probably most at ease discussing how to get a newborn onto a regular schedule, don’t you agree? Do you think that Kate is proving to be a great mom to Prince George? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
