A few short days after making her first formal appearance Kate Middleton had another opportunity to dress up and enjoy some adult interaction but she passed in favor of staying at home with Prince George. Instead Prince William, Prince Harry and even Pippa Middleton attended the wedding of James Meade, 31, and Lady Laura Marsham, 29, at St Nicholas parish church, in Gayton, Norfolk.
The two princes appeared to be in good spirits and Pippa had no problem stealing the spotlight that would no doubt have been owned by Kate had she opted to attend the wedding. It leaves us to wonder why Kate decided to stay at home. Most new parents look forward to any opportunity to be around other adults especially after spending several weeks in the eat-sleep-change diaper trenches that go along with having a newborn.
While Kate’s body looked fabulous last week her face looked pretty exhausted and photos of her with prince William showed a bit of tension between the couple. Maybe it was a fluke moment caught on camera or perhaps Kate is struggling a bit. Millions of women lose their identity and a bit of their sanity while caring for a new baby.
Postpartum Depression, or PPD, is a very real condition that effects tons of women each year. Perhaps Kate has found herself stuck in its grasp without any warning and that is part of the reason she chose to miss her friends’ wedding. Maybe it wasn’t a choice so much as an overall feeling that she just couldn’t pull it together to be able to attend. Do you think that Kate is struggling with motherhood, with PPD?
