Are we witnessing a repeat in history here? Days after Prince William was born, Prince Charles left Princess Diana and his newborn son to go watch a polo match instead of spending time with his family. We hoped that Prince William wouldn’t go down that route, but recent reports indicate otherwise.
According to a new report from People, William is set join Prince Harry in a polo match this Sunday, literally right on Kate Middleton’s due date. Of course, the source adds, “Clearly, if the Duchess gives birth before, he won’t be there.”
Is that the problem? After reports on how William is planning to be more ‘hands-on’ and less ‘traditional’ than his own father, you’d think he would be spending as much time as possible with his pregnant wife before she gave birth. Instead, he’s playing polo with his brother?
Of course, I can already hear some people arguing that it’s for charity. But pretty much all Prince William does is charity. He spends his entire year attending events and playing matches for charity, when he’s not doing something for the army. You’d think he could spare a few days to spend with his wife before she gave birth.
This is turning out to be Prince Charles 2.0 again, with poor Kate set to go down Diana’s path. I really, really hope I’m wrong and this is a one-off occasion, because this sort of thing is not the example of devotion that we’ve come to expect from Will in the past.
What do you guys think about Will’s decision to play a polo match days before Kate’s due to give birth? Are we overreacting, or do you think he should be spending time with his wife as well? Let us know in the comments.
