The foundation of the British monarchy shook when Prince William, second in line to the throne, chose a commoner as his bride. He and Kate Middleton married in April 2011, and have since made headlines as being as ordinary as a couple can be! Just after the wedding, Kate was spotted grocery shopping, and neighbors on the Welsh island of Anglesey say they love ordering spicy pizzas and catching new movies. Except for the royal aspect, and the excessive wealth and security, one might dare to say that Kate and Wills are normal people! Though it may upset Queen Elizabeth II, they even love modern music, and Ellie Goulding is a particular favourite!
The royal couple asked Ellie to sing during their private wedding reception, and the singer admitted, “There isn’t a performer in the world who would have turned down the chance to sing at that reception.” Ellie was criticized by some, who considered the private concert to be a bit of a sell out, elitist move on her part. But Ellie had a fab time, and gushed that Wills and Kate are “the coolest people you could ever hope to meet.”
We already knew Will and Prince Harry were cool! In 2007, the brothers organized Concert for Diana, a tribute concert in London in honor of their mom, Princess Diana on what would have been her 46th birthday. The concert had an astounding lineup, including Sir Elton John, Duran Duran, James Morrison, Lily Allen, Joss Stone, Andrea Bocelli, and Kanye West. As if the concert isn’t a touching enough tribute, the princes donated proceeds to several charities, including one that benefitted orphaned children whose families suffered from AIDS.
I guess that’s their mother’s mark on them—Harry and William are not only thoughtful and giving, but are totally in tune with pop culture, and don’t’ feel uncomfortable letting loose and mixing in with us commoners! How will Will and Kate raise the royal baby? Are there any parent tot classes around Kensington Palace they could enroll in?
