It has been less than 24 hours since Kate Middleton gave birth to a bouncing heir to the throne and already it appears that she is gearing up to leave the hospital. Kensington Palace officials had confirmed that the duchess would stay overnight with Prince William by her side and it looks like she’ll be leaving later today.
Outside St. Mary’s Hospital has been abuzz with the notion that 1pm EST might be the magic hour when Kate and Prince William walk out the front door and introduce their 8 pound 6 ounce son to the world.
Earlier today Kensington Palace staffers were seen at the hospital, including the royal hairdresser. That certainly adds to the notion that Kate is gearing up to be camera ready at some point today. There is no way that Kate is going to emerge looking anything less than fabulous, cuddling her new son. Let’s not forget that before getting pregnant Kate was basically an athlete so it’s perfectly reasonable to believe that she did breeze through labor and that her body is bouncing back quickly. Now her hair and make up need to follow suit!
As for the happy couple they did issue a statement this morning via Kensington Palace expressing an overwhelming amount of gratitude
“We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received. We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time.”
Will we get our first glimpse at the new heir today? If so do you think that William and Kate will announce his name? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
