Good grief, is there anything Kanye West won’t do for Kim Kardashian? It would be romantic if it wasn’t Kanye and Kim, but this might be taking it too far. According to a report from Page Six, Kanye has hired Monica Warhol [Andy Warhol‘s cousin] to paint Kim. Well, the one bright spot of this report is that not even Kanye could get anyone closer to Andy involved in the D-list disaster that is Kim Kardashian – and I bet you he tried. But unfortunately for him, he had to settle for a Warhol cousin who has pretty much nothing to do with the real deal.
Since she managed to book such a big gig off her cousin’s name, Monica is pretty much obligated to suck up to Kanye and Kim now, telling Page Six, “She’s an icon. She’s famous for nothing. Andy would have loved her. Kim is beautiful. She’s so manufactured. She looks like a human Barbie.”
HAH. That’s hilarious. Even Monica has managed to layer her praise with subtle barbs against Kim and her plastic face and body. The reason Kim looks like a human barbie is because she IS a human barbie, the result of trial and error under the knife. I don’t know if I would go so far as to call her beautiful, but hey, a gig is a gig.
Monica also pretty much admits that she never met Andy, who died in 1987. She explains, “My grandfather and Andy’s father were brothers. My Aunt Betty took me to the cemetery every week, where we’d pray over Andy’s grave, because my aunt said he was pretty flaky and was probably in purgatory.”
Well, a Warhol painting will still count for something, even if it has nothing on Andy’s original work. At the rate Kanye’s going, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up buying Kim the Empire State Building or getting the Mona Lisa repainted with Kim’s visage. He’s in this for the long haul – once you’re in with the Kardashians, you’re never out.
