Tonight I saw something on Twitter that was disturbing. Not surprising. Not surprising at all but disturbing because a person – especially one with so much to lose – should know when to cease fire and apologize… yes I am talking about LeAnn Rimes.
Last week LeAnn went and stuck the proverbial foot in her mouth by laughing when someone joked about her ex-husband Dean Sheremet being gay. Here is a little refresher:
Dean who rarely engages called LeAnn out on this major gaffe, because it was not just insensitive, but it also goes against the anti-bullying and equality organizations she aligns herself with.
When LeAnn began taking heat instead of apologizing she justified her poor judgment with excuses – which at this point is just par for the course for LeAnn. What else is just par for the course for LeAnn is hiding behind pseudo accounts as well as her group of 10 or so fierce supporters who she encourages when they engage in Twitter wars and bully others. Sadly this time they projected their hate onto Dean and what did LeAnn do you ask… Absolutely nothing.
It started after RadarOnline tweeted their post and Dean responded to them explaining why he chose to speak out. This is when LeAnn’s friend and supporter – a person she follows so she does see what she tweets – interjected herself into the conversation and placed the blame on Dean. Here it is:
First off as you can clearly see the original tweet did not go to Dean – he was not tagged in it so he didn’t receive it. It went to LeAnn and LeAnn only and SHE CHOSE to reply, and did so in the worst possible way. Dean is not her husband so it is not his place to troll her timeline and defend her in tweets, and yet that didn’t stop her friends from trying to spin LeAnn’s wrong into Dean’s wrong with one person suggesting he was to blame for all of it and even calling him a coward… and still LeAnn did nothing:
But it didn’t stop there it just continued on and on with her friends suggesting Dean was crazy and just trying to ride LeAnn’s coattails:
All these individual are LeAnn’s friends and she follows every single one of them (yes I double checked) which means she saw ALL of this, which gave her the opportunity to stop the bullying and hate directed at Dean by asking them to stop but she didn’t. She. Didn’t.
In the end – per usual – it had to be one of the other players involved (in the past it has been Brandi Glanville the usual target of hate from LeAnn’s friends) to ask for peace for everyone involved:
Dean proved once again he is truly a class act, whereas LeAnn proved that she actively perpetuates the hate and bullying sometimes with words of encouragement to those engaged in Twitter wars, and other times by sitting by and just watching it happen. LeAnn is not just their friend but their idol, and they may or may not listen to her advice but the fact that she did not even attempt to stop them from berating Dean – who was innocent – speaks volumes of her character. Of course LeAnn called me a ‘horrific “human being”‘ so I guess Dean is not getting the worst from his ex-wife. I have a thought provoking quote of the day for LeAnn: those who are in a position to put an end to a wrong, and yet do nothing are just as guilty as the active participants. Truth.
