The last time we saw Macaulay Culkin, it looked like he was going to pass out. That’s not an exaggeration or a joke – he was gaunt, pale, sickly, and so thin that you could practically see every bone and rib in his body. Since then, he’s stayed largely off the radar, but he made a rare appearance at the New York Comic-Con on Friday.
Macaulay joined a Robot Chicken panel, alongside Seth Green and Breckin Meyer. Culkin is part of the show and has been since 2005, but no one actually expected him to show up. But show up he did, and wearing animal ears, no less.
It’s been more than a year since his sickly appearances on the street, and he definitely looks much healthier than he did back then. But does that mean he’s off drugs completely? Look, there are many reasons for the way he looked last time we saw him. He could have stopped eating, he may have been taking too many drugs, he may have been taking certain types of drugs, and he could have been stressed. And now, sure he looks more healthy – but it still doesn’t look like someone who’s completely clean and sober.
Some people are even arguing that wearing the animal ears is a sign that Macaulay wasn’t in his right mind during the panel. However, after listening to his very lucid answers during the panel, it really didn’t seem like there was anything wrong with him. But with Macaulay, less is more.
