Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had every superhero fangirl and fanboy pumped up when it aired its season premiere last week — and Joss Whedon fans definitely showed up for the party. Well, tonight marks the arrival of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1 episode 2 and fans are going to be in for another wild ride. The show is titled “0-8-4,” and if you managed to catch last week’s episode, you’ll know that this is a code for a situation that could not only present a potentially catastrophic problem but has been put in place by S.H.I.E.L.D. to designate something extremely unknown. If you missed last week’s episode, CLICK HERE for a full recap.
Tonight’s brief episode summary reads: “Coulson runs into Comandante Camilla Reyes when he and the agents travel to Peru to investigate a mysterious object.”
It’s very important that episode 2 presents a show that people can truly sink their teeth into. Honestly, I was slightly unimpressed by the first episode (namely by some of the cringe-worthy dialogue), but there are several great characters I’m excited to continue journeying alongside. The two scientists — together known as “Fitz-Simmons” — are lovely and their intellectual banter is great fun to witness.
What are you hoping to observe on this new episode of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Make sure to tune in to ABC tonight October 1st at 8 PM EST to learn about the mysterious 0-8-4. Also, don’t forget to jump back here, to this spot, where we’ll be recapping the show for you LIVE. Leave any thoughts, feelings, anxieties in the comments section below and lets power up for a *hopefully* entertaining episode tonight!

There’s a breach in “the bus” that’s causing people and equipment to fly out of the plane. Coulson is hanging on by a thread!
19 hours prior on the tarmac they’re loading Skye’s equipment into the plane. Coulson is telling Grant that she’s being brought on as a consultant. Grant disagrees because she doesn’t think like one of them but that’s why Coulson wants her on the team.
Jemm and Leo welcome her into their lab. They show Skye around the plane before they take off. Leo is excited to have her room next to his. Grant hands Skye a layout of the plane and walks away as Coulson tells her about what they had done to the plane after he was nearly killed by Loki.
Coulson tells Skye that they’re going to Peru to look into a foreign object – an 084 – and the last one they found was very interesting. She asks what it was and he responds, “a hammer.”
They land in Peru and take their vehicles out to the site of an ancient temple. Melinda says there is too much exposure and she’s going to park somewhere else. Leo is geeked out about seeing real live monkeys. Jemma scares him with her talk of venomous snakes.
Skye wants to let the locals know that there’s a danger in the jungle and he tells her they’re going to keep it quiet but she may have to blog some redirection if it gets out of hand.
Coulson talks to the professor running the dig as he tells him that what they found might be dangerous. Coulson tells him that’s why they’re there. He leads them to an object stuck to the rock wall. Skye is about to touch it when Leo warns her not to do that. They notice strange markings on the object and Simmons comments that it looks German.
Grant is talking to Melinda about her war stories. He says it was a good idea that Coulson brought her out of retirement because it’s always good to have someone you can trust at your back. They are jumped by military personnel. Grant tells her that they should have brought more guns as he has one by the throat with a gun pointed at his head and Melinda aims two pistols at the small army surrounding them.
Melinda and Grant are at a standstill with the army as their leader walks out to meet them. Coulson introduces himself in Spanish and recognizes their leader as Camilla Reyes. They used to work together and are close enough to greet with a cheek kiss…
Leo and Jemma are going over the object still as Grant walks in to tell them what’s going on outside. He’s trying to get them to hurry and asks Skye what her job is exactly. She doesn’t answer.
Camilla asks Coulson if there’s any way to work out who will keep the device (SHIELD vs. Peru) and they agree to work it out. Explosions start around them as a rebel force invades the area. Grant yells that science class is over because the ruins are becoming unstable and shaking.
Coulson and Camilla are trying to clear out the area as Leo and the others cower in the entrance to the temple. Grant comes out with a pole and Coulson tells Camilla to tell her men to get down. He stabs it into the ground and a large pulse knocks all the men in the area off their feet.
Melinda pulls up their vehicle and they all pile in. Coulson hops in with Camilla and they head back to the bus as the guerrillas give chase. They all load into the plane and make sure everyone’s okay.
Leo tells them the object is deadly because it reeks of gamma radiation and says it’s powered by the Tesseract source. He reminds them of Captain America and the Germans in WWII. They all take a few steps back from the bag it’s in.
Coulson is calls in to SHIELD HQ and tells them that they have a Tesseract power source on board. He then tries to talk to Melinda but she isn’t responding and flicks a switch harshly. Coulson apologizes for putting her back into a combat situation.
Coulson makes sure Camilla and her men are okay and goes to see why Grant and Leo are yelling at each other and explains that the mission was a success considering the circumstances. They begin to bicker again about the experience of the team.
Coulson admits Grants can speak six languages and says Skye has two PhDs in something that he can’t pronounce and that Leo is literally a rocket scientist and tells the smart people to work it out.
Coulson shows Camilla around the bus while she flirts heavily.
Leo says the object is a weapon and tells Jemma he’s surprised it didn’t go off when they were taking readings off it.
Skye comes to make amends with Grant saying they got off on the wrong foot and offers him a drink. Skye explains what the Rising Tide was all about with the core of thousands of people getting behind the same cause and that she thinks it’s beautiful. Grant tells her that they just see the world in a different way. She notices he was grazed by a bullet protecting them and he tells her not to worry about it. He says that they just can’t seem to understand each other, but isn’t as angry.
Coulson and Camilla are talking and she comments that the plane is a big step up from the van they used to work out of together. She closes the door and walks seductively toward him. Camilla continues her pursuit as Coulson reveals he knows she’s up to something. He tells her that Ward knows that he would have to be taken out first which gives him about twenty seconds to respond accordingly.
Camilla’s men pump gas into the cockpit and knock Melinda out while another two go to work on Grant. They take over the plane. Coulson looks hurt telling Camilla that they used to be allies and asks when that changed. She says, “As soon as I saw your team.”
Camilla is talking with Coulson and threatens to dump his team out of the cargo bay. The rest of the gang are talking about Melinda and tell the science geeks how she used to be a badass. Grant asks them if they’d ever heard of “the Cavalry”. They recognize the name and he says that’s her.
Coulson realizes Camilla knew the device was a weapon and she says it could end the uprising in her country.
The others debate how to escape the cargo hold as they hear a crack. Leo asks what that was and Ward tells them it was her wrist. Melinda drops in an kicks some ass. This gets the gang free to make trouble.
Camilla tells Coulson that he’s having a midlife crisis with his young team and good looking women on that team. She tells him he’s foolish and he disagrees because she just gave them a common enemy.
The gang tries to find a way to break into the lab from the hold as Melinda tells them they talk a lot and she gets into one of the vehicles. She drives through the plane and into the door of the lab and they stock up on their equipment.
The ground tower calls in to confirm the change of direction with the plane. Camilla holds a gun to Coulson’s head and tells him to tell theme everything is fine. He sees the little drone plane and knows his team is up to something. He says, “Everything’s fine. It’s blue skies from here on out” and then tightens his grip on the ropes he’s tied up with.
Leo sarcastically tells Jemma this is going to be the moment they regret. He presses a button on his pad and triggers an action that blows a hole in the side of the plane. Some of Camilla’s men go flying out of it with equipment. Coulson is hanging on by a thread as is Camilla.
Grant tells the others to get to the artifact and hopes that Coulson can handle himself. Grant fights his way through the plane and Melinda struggles with the pilot.
Coulson is holding onto Camilla so she doesn’t go flying out of the plane.
Skye sees one of the plane layouts and unbuckles herself from Leo and Jemma. She tells them to trust her.
Coulson handcuffs Camilla to a bar telling her he doesn’t want her to know what a 30,000 foot drop feels like.
Skye releases one of the emergency inflatable rafts and it blocks the breach in the plane.
Coulson kicks one of the last dudes in the chin and knocks him out.
They all gather around and Simmons tells them they need to get artifact safe as soon as possible.
Coulson walks back to Melinda and says, “Told you they were good.”
Coulson is checking over his car Lola as Skye walks up. She asks if this is what she signed up for and he says yeah and “A ticket to the craziest show on earth.” She asks what happened with him and Camilla back in the day and asks if they had sexy time. He tells her that’s classified.
Grant admits to Melinda that Skye could be a valuable agent. She tells him that she’ll need a good officer. Ward tells her he’ll take her on.
They’re all sharing a beer on the boarding ramp of the ship. Coulson asks them whose idea it was to blow a hole in the ship. Skye starts to take the blame and Leo says it was their idea – all of them. Coulson tells them nice work. They watch a rocket launch the artifact out into the sky – out of danger to them.
Skye gets a message on her phone asking about Rising Tide and if she wants to go dark. Skye hesitates then texts back “I’m in.”
Fury is chewing Coulson out about breaking the bus ate having it just six days and how much it will cost to fix it. He rants and tells him he wants it fixed just like he found it – and that Leo can’t do anything crazy. He also says the new girl is a risk and Coulson says he knows.
Fury asks how Lola is and he says fine. Fury storms out while Coulson makes a call and says “kill the fish tank.”
