It’s interesting to chart the trajectory of the High School Musical cast. On the one hand, you have the stars like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, who may not be doing Oscar level material but are working in films steadily. Then, you have the supporting players like Corbin Bleu, who is reduced to doing reality television.
Well, Dancing with the Stars is premium as far as reality television goes, so maybe it’s a smart choice for his career. When the Season 17 cast for Dancing with the Stars was announced, Corbin had been rumored for some time so it wasn’t a surprise when his name was read out. He will be partnering with dancer Karina Smirnoff, a Dancing With the Stars regular.
According to his official bio, “Corbin Bleu is best known for his role as Chad in the Emmy award-winning Disney Channel Movie High School Musical, its sequel, High School Musical 2 and feature film High School Musical 3: Senior Year. He also starred in the hit Disney Channel Movie Jump Inand will be seen again starring alongside Stephen Lang in the highly anticipated thriller The Monkey’s Paw this fall. Bleu had his producing debut in 2008 for the movie Free Style, in which he also starred, and again in 2012 for Scary or Die.”
In addition to his film and television career, Bleu also had a music career, and his solo debut album Another Side was released in 2007. He released his second studio album Speed of Light in 2009, and his other film roles include Catch That Kid, Mystery Men, and Family Tree.
It’s likely that Corbin will have one of the biggest fan bases in the current cast, although this year definitely features more heavy weights than usual. Will you guys be rooting for Corbin and Karina, or do you have another favorite lined up? Let us know in the comments.
