Blake Shelton co-hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards, and his wife Miranda Lambert ended up walking away with the most number of prestigious awards of the evening.
Lambert ended up winning her fourth straight female vocalist award and she also managed to pick up three more trophies [one for single record of the year and two more for song of the year] for her song ‘Over You’. Lambert co-wrote the song with Shelton, which would make it more meaningful that she won, right?
Well, maybe to an extent, but with the amount of relationship problems that Shelton and Lambert are going through, the awards may have been a bright spot on an otherwise difficult evening. They had to get dressed and go play pretend everything’s ok in front of hundreds of people, a task that would be difficult for anyone, much less two famous country music stars.
The most recent report regarding Shelton’s infidelity came from a story that he was flirting with his Voice co-judge Shakira. Shakira’s new to the panel, and she’s gorgeous, so a little bit of innocent flirting shouldn’t hurt anyone, right? Well, according to the reports, Lambert flew off the handle when she found out and it’s led to increased strain in their already strained relationship.
Of course, none of these reports are confirmed – for all we know, Lambert and Shelton could be living happily together, as their reps continue to suggest. However, the sheer number of reports [and some from legitimate outlets] about Shelton’s cheating leads to suggest that it’s just a public face that both of them are putting on. How much longer can that last? Even though they’re said to be ‘working things out’, Lambert’s got to be tired of going to the grocery store and seeing rumors of her husband’s infidelity plastered all over the magazines.
