Paul Kevin Curtis Arrested in Ricin Threat To President Obama and US Government

In addition to the ever present terror from the Boston Marathon bombings, there was another scare yesterday when an envelope contaminated with the poison Ricin was sent to a Senator in the Capitol.

Ricin is a poison that can kill you through inhalation so it was clear that whoever send the envelope was intending for their target to die. Thankfully, unlike in the case of the Boston bombings, an arrest has already been made in regards to whoever sent the letters.

The letters were confirmed to have been addressed to President Obama and Senator Roger Wicker. According to CNN, the person, Paul Kevin Curtis, is well known to police, was arrested was from the Tulepo, Mississippi area. The message inside the letters was also published, and it was said to read, ‘To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance.’ It was signed, ‘I am KC and I approve this message.’

There have also been several other reports of suspicious packages and letters being received by people, and it’s not clear whether it’s just nervousness on people’s parts because of the bombings and the Ricin scare, or if it’s actually the work of a group trying its best to attack the entire nation’s psyche with a series of well planned attacks. While it’s unlikely that the Ricin letter and the bombings are linked, the timing of both remains suspiciously close and it’s starting to prey on people’s sense of safety. After all, the U.S. is supposed to be one of the safest countries in the world. But how safe can a country be if we cannot walk down the street or open our mail for fear of dying?
