Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo, perhaps most famous for his role in syndicated Spanish radio, is currently being slapped with sexual harassment allegations, and they involve his co-star Alberto “Beto” Cortez! Beto was a writer, performer, and producer on the “Piolin por la Manana” show, which aired on approximately fifty radio stations across the country. The L.A. Times first broke the news story, saying Beto claims his boss, Piolin, had physically, emotionally, and sexually harassed him for nearly three years while doing the show.
No lawsuits have been filed as of yet, but he has made quite a few glaring accusations in a letter he sent to heads at Univision. The letter states that Piolin would constantly grab his butt and genitals, as well as yell homophobic slurs at him, despite him having a girlfriend, etc. And, apparently, Beto has witnesses to back up his claims.
Piolin says that these allegations are absolutely ridiculous. He recently released a letter via his lawyers commenting on the accusations:
“A disgruntled, troubled employee has made malicious and false claims about Eddie Sotelo,” the statement reads. “This was done as part of a demand for money. The employee worked with Eddie for more than a decade. The employee’s allegations of harassment … are pure fiction intended to gain a financial settlement.”
Piolin’s show ran for more than ten years and he’s oftentimes considered one of the most famous hosts in the history of Spanish radio. What do you think about these claims? Just another person looking to make a buck off a famous person?
