The drama surrounding South African track star Oscar Pistorius is really getting intense. There are rumors floating around that Oscar’s girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was actually pregnant when she was murdered. This case just keeps getting sadder and sadder, doesn’t it?
According to reports, the charges against Blade Runner have been upgraded to premeditated murder. Reportedly, the judge said that he couldn’t rule out the possibility that Oscar planned the shooting death of his girlfriend. The magistrate, Desmond Nair said that he would consider downgrading the charge at a later time.
The prosecutors in the case said that Oscar opened fire on Reeva with four shots through a locked bathroom door last Thursday. They allege that he attached his prosthetic legs and walked more than 20 feet from one of the bedrooms in the home. The prosecutor said, “She could not go anywhere. It must have been horrific.”
The defense attorney, Barry Roux said that the prosecution doesn’t have evidence to prove that this was a murder. Pistorius previously said in an affidavit, “I fail to understand how I could be charged with murder, let alone premeditated. I had no intention to kill my girlfriend…We were deeply in love and I could not be happier. I know she felt the same way. I believed someone had entered my house. I was too scared to switch a light on. I grabbed my 9mm pistol from underneath my bed.”
He went on to say, “I returned to the bathroom and picked Reeva up as I had been told not to wait for the paramedics, but to take her to the hospital. I carried her downstairs in order to take her to the hospital. On my way down… a doctor who lives in the complex also arrived. Downstairs, I tried to render the assistance to Reeva that I could, but she died in my arms.”
And if she was pregnant, we can expect more charges to be added later, no?
