Anyone man dreaming about the day he will ask Scarlett Johansson to marry him will once again have to live with the crushing disappointment that it’s not going to happen. According to People, Scarlett is engaged to her boyfriend of less than a year, journalist Romain Dauriac.
I really, really hope she’s thought this through and it’s not just a reaction to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively getting married so quickly. However, I think Scarlett knows what she’s doing, and I think she specifically chose someone outside of the industry this time after getting burned last time.
Although Scarlett’s rep hasn’t said anything, a ‘source’ [how much do you want a bet that it’s someone close to Romain] says that the couple is ‘engaged’ and ‘very happy‘ together. According to the source, the proposal happened more than a month ago.
Good for Scarlett – she managed to keep this a secret for almost a month. That’s pretty impressive, but then again, Scarlett’s always been very private about her personal life, even when she was with Reynolds. They rarely got papped and they almost never got photographed together. Although Scarlett does get photographed more often with Romain, I’m guessing that’s more Romain’s doing than hers.
Now, how long will Scarlett and her new beau last? Anyone? Maybe she’ll prove everyone wrong when she ends up staying with him for more than a few years. She is only 28 years old, and actors are notoriously immature for their age. Let’s hope Scarlett knows what she’s doing this time.
