Fans of All My Children will be thrilled to hear that Susan Lucci is truly hoping to cut a deal that allows her to step back into the heels of Pine Valley diva, Erica Kane. Lucci debuted as the iconic character in 1970 and stayed with the show for more than 40 years, until ABC pulled the plug in 2011. Lucci is currently splitting her time between her home in New York City and her new acting gig on Devious Maids, a prime time soap helmed by Mark Cherry that will debut on Lifetime later this year.
Lucci visited The View this past week and was in tears talking about the possibility of returning to AMC.
“I so hope that I can return. I want with all my heart to return to All My Children, I just don’t know the answer yet. What I do know is that all of us — all of us — are working so hard to make that happen. My heart is certainly with Agnes Nixon, and it’s going to be wonderful. I want you all to watch because it’s going to be great.”
A rebooted internet based version of AMC is set to debut later this spring on Hulu. Prospect Park, the production company responsible for reviving the show almost brought it back this time last year but that deal fell apart. This time around it’s a definite go, with please fans. David Canary (Adam Chandler)Lindsay Hartley (Cara Castillo), Vincent Irizarry (David Hayward), Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater), Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt), Debbi Morgan (Angie Hubbard), Jordi Vilasuso (Griffin Castillo), and Darnell Williams (Jesse Hubbard) have all been confirmed to be part of AMC when it returns this spring.
The thing that they really need for it to feel like AMC is for La Lucci to return. It certainly sounds like she is dying for that to happen. Do you think that a deal will eventually be reached? Tell us your thoughts on the AMC reboot in the comments below!
