This year, fans will experience The Bachelor as they’ve never experienced it before. In the next season of the Bachelor, Bachelor Nation is hosting three hour-long Bachelor TV specials, two of which will feature Juan Pablo Galavis [the newest Bachelor] and one which will focus on the past fan favorite couples that have stayed in the fandom’s hearts. And finally, it will all end with a live Bachelor wedding.
Although The Bachelor usually premieres on Monday, this season will kick off with a one-hour special edition on Sunday, January 5th, 2014 [8:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET] on ABC. The one-hour special is titled ‘The Bachelor: Countdown to Juan Pablo’, and will be hosted by Chris Harrison. The sneak peak will focus on the life of Juan Pablo Galavis, his experiences as a single father, his life in Miami, and his relationship with his daughter, Camila Galavis. There will be several looks at the casting process for the show, in which they reveal some of the contestants vying for Juan’s heart and explain how they narrowed down the applications.
The second special, titled The Bachelor: Behind The Scenes’, will air on Sunday, January 12th [8:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET], and will focus on the fans. There will be a behind-the-scenes look at the fandom of Bachelor, where they go crash Bachelor viewing parties around the country. And in addition to looking at the fans, the special will also give everyone a behind-the-scenes look at the events that take place after the first rose ceremony, and the reactions of the women Juan sends home. And of course, we can’t have a Bachelor special without some romance and so this episode will also end with an in-depth look at the contestant that Juan decides to take on his first date of the season.
The third special will air on Sunday, January 19th [8:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET], titled ‘The Bachelor: Bachelor Love Stories’, and it will focus on the enduring love stories from both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Several fan-favorite couples, including Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried, Ashley Herbert and J.P. Rosenbaum, and Jason Mesnick and Molly Mesnick, will be featured on the show, along with details on how their relationships have grown since they first met on the show.
And finally, the last special, airing on Sunday, January 26th, will be Sean Lowe‘s and Catherine Giudici’s wedding. Since they met on the Bachelor, it’s only fitting that their wedding will air on The Bachelor, even if their marriage only lasts for a few days.
Keep in mind, these are all the specials for the Bachelor, and the official ‘first episode’ of the season does still kick off on Monday, January 6th with a two-hour special on ABC at 8:00 PM. Our Bachelor, Juan Pablo Galavis, was actually a fan favorite on the ninth season of the Bachelorette, but ended up losing out in the battle for Desiree Hartsock‘s heart. He ended up going back home to Barcelona, but claims the experience opened up his heart to finding love. Will he finally find what he’s looking for? We’ll just have to wait until January to find out.
