We’ve all been so focused on Brandi Glanville’s upcoming explosive book here at CDL that we nearly missed another tell-all that is begging for attention. Legendary Sony Music exec, Tommy Mottola has Hitmaker – The Man and His Music headed to a book store near you and for the first time ever, we get to hear his side of his ill-fated marriage to Mariah Carey!
Tommy first met the songbird back in the late 80’s and is credited for Mariah’s breakthrough album, Vision of Love. He was twenty years older than her when he decided to leave his wife Lisa and young children in order to be with his protege. In the past Mariah has called her marriage to Tommy “oppressive” and a “private hell”. She also referred to the palatial home that the couple shared as a prison. According to the latest issue of the GLOBE, Tommy considers his short lived marriage to Mariah as his biggest mistake. Everyone around him, from his shrink to his teenaged kids told him not to go through with the over-the-top wedding that Mariah has meticulously planned, but he bit the bullet and did it anyway. It sounds like Tommy has regrets about leaving his already established family in the dust to be with Mariah and he really wishes that he had done things differently.
Up until now we’ve heard bits and pieces about how Tommy kept Mariah on a short leash but let’s be real here, she is as high maintenance as they come and she had to have been difficult when they were married. It sounds like there was one heck of a power struggle at work between these two that Tommy won, at least until she filed for divorce. Are you curious about what else Tommy has to say? Will you be grabbing a copy of his new book? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
