Although folks at Comic-Con for their first look at X-Men: Days of Future Past during the summer, the rest of us have had to wait until now to glimpse footage from the film. Director Bryan Singer debuted a short teaser from the full length theatrical trailer, and the trailer is reportedly set for release on October 29th, 2013.
Although the teaser is only 10 seconds long, we get a solid glimpse at the characters and the increased scope of the film. By combining both worlds, past and future, of the X-Men, Fox has ensured that every single fan who has ever enjoyed an X-Men film will want to return. Days of Future Past is reportedly one of Fox’s most expensive movies ever made, right behind Avatar, so the studio clearly has high hopes.
The teaser definitely doesn’t let us down – the visual effects themselves are stunning, and you can see a huge improvement from the original X-Men films and even First Class. The outfits are also excellent, with the new X-Men garb in the future looking much more sleek and polished, and the 70s outfits in the past looking…. well, like 70s outfits. All the main characters can be seen in the trailer, including both the future and past versions of Magneto and Professor X, as well as Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine and Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.
There’s not much indication of the plot in those ten seconds, and we don’t get to see the Sentinels at all. In fact, the only character interaction we’re able to gleam from the teaser is Magneto dragging Mystique towards him, and her face scrunched up in either fear or anger.
