Tonight on the FOX network AMERICAN IDOL continues with another new episode as the auditions continue in Detroit, Michigan. and it’s another 2-hour show. Did you watch last week’s premiere episodes? We did and we recapped it right here NIGHT 1, NIGHT 2.
On last week’s premiere week began by showcasing the nation’s best talent from the Boston and Austin auditions. The second night of the premiere brought even more amazing auditions from Austin and San Francisco. The ratings for America Idol are creeping up and it looks like fans are enjoying the new judges table. It looks like American Idol has finally struck gold with the right judges.
On tonight’s episode the judges are headed to Detroit in hopes of finding the next American Idol. The auditions were held at the Ford Field in July last year. It should be a big night of talent because Idol producers said they found some talented candidates from auditions at Ford Field last year.

On tonight’s episode of American Idol, Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr, and Keith Urban travel to Detroit, Michigan to hold open auditions for the singing competition.
The American Idol auditions in Detroit kick off with 24 year old Keri Lynn Roche singing “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James. The judges enjoy her voice and song, and vote to give her a Golden Ticket to the next rounds.
18 year old Detroit native Julian Miller is inspired by the Motown Era, and the judges are inspired by him. They vote to send him to the next round of the American Idol tryouts in Hollywood.
Olivia Diamond, and Paris Primeau also all receive Golden Tickets to Hollywood from the judges in Detroit, Michigan.
15 year old Malaya Watson auditions for Jennifer, Harry, and Keith next. The judges are blown away and thank her for doing such a great job. Jennifer thinks she has been blessed with a singing gift, Malaya Watson is going to Hollywood.
29 year old Bryan Watt from Georgia auditions next for the judges. Bryan leaves Jennifer speechless, and Harry thinks he may be “Superman.” Bryan Watt receives a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
22 year old Khristian D’Avis performs for Jennifer, Harry, and Keith next. Keith thinks that her singing is “inconsistent,” Jennifer doesn’t think that she can “hold out notes.” Khristian breaks down in tears, Jennifer votes “yes.” Harry thinks that Khristian is fake, but he wants to give her a shot, he votes “yes” and gives her a Golden Ticket.
17 year old Jena Asciutto blows the judges away with her rendition of Adele’s “Rollin’ In The Deep.” The vote is unanimous, Jena receives a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
19 year old Melanie Porras traveled all the way from Georgia to Michigan to try out for American Idol. She performs “Wanted Dead Or Alive” by Bon Jovi for the judges. Jennifer thinks she “can hear her recording records.” The vote in unanimous, Melanie is getting a Golden Ticket to Hollywood for the next round of auditions.
18 year old Liam Newbury travelled to Detroit from Ohio to sing “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra for the American Idol judges. Jennifer doesn’t think Liam has any “swag,” and Keith doesn’t think he has any “sexiness” to his voice. Liam begs for another chance, but the judges don’t want to hear him sing again. Liam isn’t going to Hollywood.
20 year old Jade Lathan auditions next, and sings an Amy Winehouse song for Jennifer, Harry, and Keith. The judges like Jade’s voice, and present her with a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
Sarah Scherb, a 19 year old from Michigan, auditions for the judges next. Keith, Jennifer, and Harry all vote “yes.” Sarah is going to the next round of American Idol in Hollywood.
Sydney Arterbridge, a 15 year old from Ohio, sings “Loving You” for the American Idols judges next. The vote is unanimous, the judges are sending Sydney to the next round of tryouts in Hollywood.
26 year old Maurice Townsend, a full time student and a father of four, is trying out for American idol next, singing a John Legend song. The judges are blown away by Maurice’s singing. They have Maurice bring in his four kids and present him with a Golden Ticket. Maurice is going to Hollywood.
22 year old David Oliver Willis is back to try out for American Idol again. He received a Golden Ticket last year, and then was cut during the Vegas round of auditions. David is back again this year to sing “Too Close.” Jennifer, Harry, and Keith decide to give David another shot, and give him a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
19 year old twins Karlita and Rakita audition together and sing Beyonce Knowles’ song for the judges. The judges aren’t impressed though, and they think they did way too much screaming. The twins aren’t going to Hollywood.
18 year old Brandy Neely from Kentucky auditions next, singing “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes for the judges. Keith Urban says he “loves her voice,” Jennifer liked it as well, Brandy is going to the next round of American Idol auditions in Hollywood.
20 year old Ethan Harris is a big Keith Urban fan, after getting Keith’s autograph, he sings Keith’s song “You’ll Think Of Me,” for the judges.
Ayla Stackhouse, a 17 year old from Detroit, who recently moved to Hollywood to pursue a singing career is auditioning for American Idol next. The judges are impressed with her singing, and Jennifer Lopez thinks she has “star quality.” Ayla is getting a Golden Ticket, she will be competing in the next round of auditions.
Eric Gordon, a 27 year old from Kansas, is singing a John Mayer song for Jennifer, Harry, and Keith. Their vote is unanimous, Eric is getting a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
Ryan Nesbitt, an art student from Michigan, auditions next, and sings a beautiful rendition of “Arms Of An Angel.” Jennifer thinks that Ryan is “one of a kind.” Harry thinks that he has an “incredibly unique voice.” Ryan is going to Hollywood.
Marialle Sellars, a 17 year old from Indiana, is auditioning for Jennifer, Harry, and Keith next. Harry thinks that she is going to be a “nightmare for the other American Idol contestants.” The vote is unanimous, Marialle is going to Hollywood.
Overall the American Idol judges handed out 40 Golden Tickets in Detroit, Michigan. There are a grand total of 119 contestants heading to Hollywood so far.
