Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight have always had a difficult father-daughter relationship, and Angelina’s old caretaker, Cis Rundle, confirms the details of their contentious relationship in an exclusive interview with the National Enquirer.
First of all, it was clear to everyone where Angelina stood when she didn’t even invite her father to her own wedding. Brad Pitt‘s parents were there, his siblings were there, and Angelina’s brother, James Haven, was there. But Jon? Conspicuously absent. When asked about the wedding, he spoke to several tabloids about ‘happy’ he was, and how he would visit them when he had the chance. Oh, daddy dearest, you really are clueless, aren’t you?
Anyway, Cis Rundle [who took care of Angelina when she was just a small child] revealed that Jon was absent for much of Angelina’s childhood, and she can see that he’s now just using her for her fame. She tells the Enquirer, “Jon would have found a way for the wedding to be about him. I think she just knows who he is and she doesn’t trust him.”
Although Angelina’s always been very careful about discussing her father in public, he’s had no such compunctions. He claimed that she had ‘serious mental problems’ in 2002, which was the last straw for Angelina. The two remained estranged until a few years ago, when Angelina’s desire for her kids to know their grandfather overpowered her feelings of hurt and betrayal. But that doesn’t mean she has to invite him to her wedding, especially when he no doubt would have leaked it to the press!
Cis also reveals details about how Jon made life difficult for Angelina, James, and their mother, Marcheline Bertrand. He reportedly didn’t pay child support, and not only that, but he would often refuse to spend money even when taking the family out for dinner. So in essence, nothing’s changed, except Angelina’s significantly richer and more famous than him now.
