Angelina Jolie has officially fallen off from her pedestal, in a highly publicized downward spiral. After chain-smoking and publicly fighting with hubby Brad Pitt over flirting with her Unbroken co-stars on a balcony in Australia in front of the world – you would think she had reached a new low, but that apparently wasn’t the case. The SONY hacking scandals exposed Angelina Jolie’s diva behavior and dubbed her an “untalented spoiled brat” by executives. As if that wasn’t enough bad press for Unbroken, Angelina went out and made some questionable statements about history and Nazis that have her fans fuming.
According to the December 29th edition of GLOBE Magazine, “Screen Queen Angelina Jolie is buried under an avalanche of outrage for claiming that World War II wasn’t a struggle between good and evil. After directing the just-released movie about American airman Louis Zamperini who survived unspeakable horrors and torture in a Japanese torture camp – Jolie insisted she didn’t want to paint the Japanese as cruel monsters.”
Angelina created a firestorm of backlash in an interview when she stated, “There is nothing clean in war ever. There are casualties on both sides and suffering on both sides, so it wasn’t to judge history.” Jolie’s neutral position about World War II spurred some angry responses on social media, as fans tried to wrap their minds around the fact that she refused to choose sides after the gruesome war. Since Jolie’s statements she has even been accused of sympathizing with the Nazis. New York Post columnist Richard Johnson fueled even more backlash as he pointed out, “Heaven forbid she [Jolie] should knock the Nazis or Zamperini’s Japanese torturers.”
With all of the uproar over the movie The Interview and the latest confirmation that North Korea was responsible for the SONY hacks, the last thing Angelina should be doing is sympathizing with countries that the United States was at war with – regardless of how many years have passed.
