It seems one “secret of a southern belle” may be to divorce your husband before he heads back off to jail. At least if we are to put credence to the words of Apollo Nida, who recently sat down for his first interview since being sentenced to 8 years for fraud and being ordered to pay $1.9 million in restitution. The interview was conducted by Atlanta radio host Rodney Perry from BE100’s STFU, who gained a lot of insight into what is really going on with Apollo and his marriage to Real Housewives of Atlanta start Phaedra Parks in all of about twenty minutes.
The biggest take away was the assertion that Apollo and Phaedra are indeed heading for divorce, just like CDL told you a while back when all this legal mess hit the fan. The question was posed to Apollo, “is your relationship going to be able to make it through this man?” The answer though anticipated, was still somewhat shocking to hear. Apollo said, “I doubt it. I mean my wife didn’t even fuck*n show up for my sentencing. So, you know what I mean, I’m still salty about that.” Well Apollo, if our wife didn’t show up to support us in this type of situation, we would be salty too.
Before you jump, listen to the rationale. You see, Phaedra has always known what kind of man Apollo was. She knew him before he went to jail, and was pregnant by him four months after he was released. She married him nevertheless. She made vows to love him until death did them part, not prison. Even if Apollo was going behind her back and engaging in illegal activities, she knew who he was and agreed to stand by him. However, in this case it is not clear that Pheadra wasn’t aware of Apollo’s shady business dealings.
In fact, all logic suggests that Pheadra knew exactly what was going on or at least held a strong suspicion. Apollo seemingly touched on this during the interview as well. The host told Apollo that, “the word [on the street] is that you are really protecting your family” which implied Apollo was protecting Phaedra and his two sons. Apollo stated, “It’s all on me. A lot of folks could be held accountable. I’ve been protecting my family. It’s all on me.” This was not too long after he told the host that his family life was “hell on wheels” as of late and in the wake of his conviction.
This dude Apollo did a horrible thing, without a doubt. Still, it is hard not to feel a little bad for him. During the interview he makes it clear that he did not know what he was getting into when he agreed to do the reality show with Phaedra. He also has suggested in the past that he started committing crimes again to keep up with the lifestyle he was exposed to being the husband of Phaedra Parks. Again, none of this is an excuse for his reprehensible behavior, but it does help one to understand the pressures he faced that led him down this path.
Now, the poor guy is being left out to dry as Phaedra moves on to the next. Having said that, Phaedra should have never been involved with this guy in the first place, she is a lawyer for God’s sake. At the end of the day, we should all feel bad for those two kids. As Apollo said in the interview, he is most sad that “he let [his] little man down.” Tell us what you think about this filthy load and help us wash it all out.
