Several weeks ago, Celine Dion announced that she was putting her career on hold so that she could focus all of her energy on caring for her husband, Rene Angelil. We learned that late last year Rene underwent throat surgery to remove cancer and now we are hearing that a second procedure was recently done. Rene helped to launch his wife’s career well over 20 years ago and, up until recent months, the two seemed publicly inseparable.
According to the Sept. 15th print edition of Star Magazine, this recent battle with cancer has left Rene a former shadow of the man we would recognize and Celine herself is afraid that her husband isn’t going to survive much longer. Sources say that Celion Dion has committed herself to maintaining a bedside vigil for Rene Angelil no matter the outcome. He supported her career and helped her to build a family and now it’s her turn to stay strong for him.
Celine is also reportedly focusing on the couple’s three young sons, who are obviously devastated by their father’s condition at the present time. Rene used to handle the business side of everything and it wasn’t until his illness last year that she finally took over managing her own career.
