Julie orders a thousand business cards in preparation for going back to the real estate business. Todd says he doesn’t know if this working thing is going to work out.
She’s excited to be back in real estate because she enjoys getting out and meeting people. Julie tells him he needs to help with some of the household tasks to accommodate her working.
Savannah Facetimes with her friend Spencer, a singer who has been on American Idol. He’s planning a trip down to Atlanta, and wants to meet up for a date. Savannah tells him he’s going to have to talk to her dad first. “Just be prepared for him to say no,” Savannah says, telling him to expect the worst and hope for the best.
Savannah sits her parents down to ask if she can go to dinner with Spencer. “For sixteen years, I’ve dreaded this moment,” Todd says.
Julie disagrees, but he overrides her opinion. He tells Savannah she can’t go because she is 16, Spencer is 19, he’s afraid she’s going to sleep with him. “I am your father,” he says. “It’s inappropriate to me.”
Julie is now finally going back to work in the real estate world, leaving Todd at home to cook. He is completely dumbfounded trying to make lasagna. He enlists Chase to help by making a salad, at which point he throws a bunch of lettuce in a bowl. Todd forces him to wash it.
“This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” Chase says. Todd assures him it is definitely not the dumbest thing he’s ever done.
Julie comes home and checks out the lasagna. “I’m so proud of him,” she says. “Even if it’s not even edible, he gets an A for effort.”
At dinner, Todd brings up Savannah wanting to go on a date. The family takes a vote, and everyone but Todd votes ‘yes.’ Todd says granny needs to go with her and supervise her.
When Spencer arrives at the house, Todd sits them down to “chat,” telling them to sit at a certain distance from one another and telling him not to do anything on this date that he wouldn’t do in front of him. He also tells Savannah not to kiss him.
Spencer and Savannah get in the back of the car and granny drives them to a restaurant, where she goes to sit at the bar while they have their date. She immediately orders a drink and doesn’t supervise them very much at all. They crack up watching granny as an old guy approaches her to flirt, and Savannah takes a picture of them and texts it to Todd.
When Todd gets the text, he immediately calls granny to call her out. “You have a job to do, and that’s to monitor what my child’s doing.” Granny laughs at the end of the call.
Todd is so relieved when Savannah and Spencer arrive back at the house.
Julie asks her how the date was and she thanks them for letting her go. However, she says that the next time, she wants to go by herself.
THE END!
