Annie is back from her mission and a funny thing about her mission – she only learned it was completely redundant after she returned home. The new and improved Roger (he’s back on his meds) had contacted her and Auggie because he swore he had information on the terrorist cell they were looking into. And do you know what that information was? He basically told him that guy she was hunting and nearly died in the process of doing so, Nathan, wasn’t in league with the cell behind the Chicago bombing.
The intel the CIA received was wrong but that’s nothing new nowadays. And if Annie wants to look into Roger’s real lead then she’s going to have to do it off the books!
A vengeful Hayley didn’t waste a second before she quickly notified Calder about Annie’s condition and seeing as they’re in enough trouble as it’s with their own bosses – both Calder and Joan have pulled Annie from the field. They’ve assigned her to a desk job and no surprise there – she resents them for it. Annie honestly believed she could continue on in the field despite her condition putting herself and others at risk. So now that her secret’s out there – the reality of her situation is finally hitting home!
How can she complain about being removed from the field in front of someone like Auggie? She knows how much he’s missed it and his case is just like hers. His condition has put a permanent end to that part of his career but he’s been able to accept that and in all honesty thrive without it – Annie on the other hand turns everything into a struggle.
To her, being benched feels like a betrayal. Her bosses were all prepared to have her die on the field before now yet its different when it looks like it might actually happen. Though she should rally learn to accept the consequences. It’s not like she didn’t see it coming. Plus, if they wanted to then Joan and Calder could throw her under the boss during their hearing with the DCI. They were advised to do it and so far they haven’t because they don’t believe that how they should repay Annie’s service to the department.
But if she’s going to keep up that attitude then they might very well change their minds!
[11:07:05 PM] Kristine Francis: Joan and Calder had tried to warn her about the impeding hearing. They told her to prepare to answer some questions pertaining to the time she had gone dark on the agency so she was advised. However she chose to overlook all of these danger signs in order to chase after Roger’s lead. So she didn’t prepare and to make matters worse she later skipped out on the hearing to go hunting with McQuaid as her backup.
Unfortunately, all of her plans came to nothing in the end. Roger was dead by time she and McQuaid arrived to meet with him. As for the intel, he allegedly was going to hand over to her – it was a bunch of conspiracy theories. Nothing substantial!
Because of that little jaunt of hers, Calder could lose his job. His bosses no longer think he can control his operatives and once again Annie has managed to find a way to disappoint Joan. Joan would have gone to bat for Annie – all it would have taken was Annie letting her in. But Annie has never been able to do that and Joan got tired of waiting around. So at the cost of almost everyone else, Annie got suspended!
She’s suddenly found herself the sole focus on what went wrong in Chicago and that means everyone she’s ever worked are also going to be looked at under a microscope!
Auggie is the bad guy with Hayley for using her, Joan is now scared of a more in depth investigation in case it reveals her own past mistakes in the field, and Calder has a prostitute to hide – thank you Annie for letting your typical drama affect everyone else. Because while they’re all feeling bad about themselves – at least you got to turn to McQuaid and finally have your chance at him.
Annie was at McQauid’s house when Auggie called her with urgent news. He doesn’t think Roger killed himself and he doubts Roger bought into those conspiracy theories his body was found with. Annie was hesitant at first to believe him but she soon figured out for herself that McQuaid isn’t as innocent as she thought.
Earlier when she was with Roger, he claimed a dog-walker had been following him. Annie had chalked that up to his delusions at the time yet the same dog-walker was at McQuaid’s house. Could it be a coincidence or did Annie asking McQuaid help lead to Roger getting killed?
THE END!
