Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have had a fairly rough time lately, with the barrel of divorce facing them down. Even though the duo stepped out looking decently happy during awards season in February, things soon went to the crapper right after that. Portia ended up in rehab during the spring, after being driven to drink by Ellen’s busy career, cheating rumors, her own insecurity issues, and her lack of job opportunities.
Ellen reportedly confronted Portia in the Spring after she had one of her binge drinking sessions, and Portia supposedly screamed and threw things at Ellen. However, Ellen realized the extent to which Portia’s health was suffering and checked her into rehab immediately, where she then spent one month recuperating and recovering from her addictions and the rumors that Ellen was cheating on her and flirting with other pretty women.
The rehab visit seems to have helped Portia de Rossi, who was reported to be doing much better over the summer. In fact, Ellen unofficially released confirmation that they were still together when she announced that Portia had landed a stint on Scandal, which Ellen no doubt helped her with. We’ve seen Portia act on that show, and it’s not her acting talent that got her the job, let me tell ya that much. She suited her role on Arrested Development because that show has a particularly stilted method of talking, and Portia didn’t have to act much to fit the character. But I doubt people will be clamoring to offer Portia another job after watching her on Scandal, which probably won’t work wonders for her self-confidence and self-worth.
Portia de Rossi already suffers major issues from insecurity and jealousy, and if her career takes yet another hit while Ellen continues to prosper? Well, let’s just say that Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi getting divorced is looking more and more likely.
