When Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres agreed to get married they also agreed to not have any children together. Ellen has always been adamant about not wanting to be a mother and Portia seemed to be in agreement. Even as recently as last year the actress had said that parenting is such a huge commitment and that it was something that she had never felt drawn to. According to the May 5th print edition of National Enquirer Portia’s thinking seems to have completely changed.
Perhaps it’s because she is kind of trapped at home while Ellen works every day and then wines and dines a multitude of other women. It’s no secret that Ellen is a bit of a control freak and that her behavior extends to her relationship with Portia as she dictates what projects the actress chooses to work on. Apparently Portia has decided that if she’s going to be trapped at home then she wants to hear the pitter patter of little feet to keep her busy.
Ellen is totally against the idea and actually feels betrayed by Portia for even suggesting that they have a child. The poor that Ellen protests the more Portia is determined to make it happen, without her if necessary. This is actually one of the hot button topics that has brought the marriage to the brink and pushed the couple into therapy. Do you think that Ellen will change her mind and welcome the thought of motherhood at age 56 or is Portia going to have to do this on her own and at the cost of her marriage?
