Ellen DeGeneres managed to survive hosting another Oscars, which she celebrated by making an appearance at the post-Oscar Vanity Fair party with Portia de Rossi. Is it just me, or did the two seem like they were putting on a show for the paparazzi at the VF party? I don’t know if they’re going overboard trying to combat the split rumors, if they really are fighting off whatever’s troubling their marriage. Ellen’s already spoken to like three different outlets and confirmed that her marriage is just fine, and now this? Then there was Ellen’s date with a mystery woman last month… . Or maybe we’re just reading too much into it, and they’re both just really drunk.
Really, you can’t blame Ellen for getting drunk – she managed to pull off her hosting gig, if not with aplomb, then with class and fun. She didn’t offend anybody and while she didn’t have say anything outrageously funny, the pizza bit and the selfie that broke Twitter were definitely the highlights of the night.
So okay, we explained why Ellen was probably drunk. But why Portia? Maybe she couldn’t handle Ellen hosting and just drunk herself into a stupor while watching the show? I don’t blame her, considering there were several moments I was considering downing my drinks while watching. Or maybe she wasn’t drunk, and just really, really excited to be at the Vanity Fair party? I mean, the party’s the hottest ticket in town after the Oscars, and she and Ellen were the center of attention.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories we can go with, especially because it looked like they were either wasted or putting on a show for the photographers and paps. But let’s just go with they were really happy to be there and be done with the show?
