On Tuesday June 3rd Michelle Stafford made her grand entrance in Port Charles as Nina Clay, and General Hospital fans are still buzzing about the new character. Nina was in a coma for twenty years, so it is expected that it will take her awhile to adjust to the world of the living again. Nina Clay appears fragile, and clueless. Not only can she physically not walk and gets around via a wheelchair, she is almost delusional about her relationship with Silas.
Despite all of the problems they had before she slipped into a coma and the fact that he was having an affair with Ava, Nina seems to think that Silas spent the last twenty years pining over her and waiting for her. She crashed Danny’s birthday party and insisted on going home with Silas since he is her husband, and completely ignored the fact that Sam and Silas are in a relationship.
Although Silas seems to be falling for Nina’s damsel in distress act hook, line, and sinker, General Hospital fans aren’t so sure she is as helpless as she seems. Nina Clay should be on a war path, before she slipped into a coma Silas was cheating on her with Ava, but she seems to have completely forgotten about his infidelities. And, she refuses to see her brother Nathan, which is strange, considering he is doing everything in his power to track her (or her remains) down. So far Nina hasn’t mentioned her mother Madeline at all. Even if she is completely unaware of the fact that her mother nearly killed her, wouldn’t she want to contact her?
Something is definitely up with Nina Clay, we just can’t put our finger on exactly what it is yet. Are you suspicious of Stafford’s new character? Or perhaps we are just so uses to her character Phyllis on The Young and the Restless; it’s hard to accept Stafford in a role as a sweet and helpless woman.
